Artist Biography

 

Simon White is a writer, director, composer, musician, sound editor/designer, electroacoustic/multimedia-artist and flower farmer.

He has been sound editor and designer for feature length film, has directed and composed scores for short films, dance performance videos, commercial spots and creates multichannel transmedia sound installations.

    Created as a companion piece to a sculpture work by Kelly Casely.

    "Cola Eyes was a collaboration with Montreal dancer Claudine Dubé and a work of Jon Hopkins. The excerpts feature original composition by Simon White."

    Body Exercise was created as a 5.1 multichannel Electroacoustic piece. Presented here in stereo, the work is an exploration of the sounds of the human body. Sounds were recorded using an unique variety of techniques such as contact mics and stethoscope.

    In the summer of 2016 artist Simon White put a call out to the residents of Wakefield and it's surrounding communities to record sounds that they felt were essential to the area. Using these submitted sounds as sonic paint, White created this interpretive sound collage and exhibitted it in an installation For Wakefest, the area's premier arts festival.

    "Pastoral Visions Yielding Nostalgia" is an Electroacoustic Composition formed of found sounds recorded in rural Prince Edward Island. It is part of a series by artist Simon White entitled “Patchwork Fields” which explores the unique sonic character of life on Prince Edward Island through fixed media pieces, installations and other forms.
